History

Terminalia ferdinandiana commonly referred to as the Kakadu Plum, Gubinge, Billy Goat Plum, Garbiny, or Murunga, grows wild in the tropical wilderness regions of northern Australia. It has grown unaltered by commercial agricultural practices for tens of thousands of years. Today the most common name is Kakadu Plum. The yellow-green fruit is oval, approximately 2 cm (0.79 inches) in length, and 1 cm (0.39 in) in diameter with a short beak at the tip. It weighs between 2 and 5 grams (0.1-0.2 ounces). The fruits are generally harvested from February to May, depending on the region the trees are found.

Members of the Australian Aboriginal community have stated the Kakadu plum has been a part of traditional medicine for forty-thousand years. Knowledge of the Kakadu Plum has been passed down from generation to generation.

Australian Aborigines have used the Kakadu Plum's powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial (antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial) properties in treating colds, flu, and headaches. Still today, the fruit is known to be rich in vitamin E and to have the highest concentration of vitamin C per gram of any known fruit. These nutritional facts make it one of Australia's most popular superfoods.

Natural disease prevention

The Kakadu Plum is rich in vitamin C and essential nutrients like Bioflavonoids, Polyphenols, and Phenolic compounds. Diets rich in these specific nutrients have been linked to the prevention of cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis, neurodegenerative disease, and signs of aging.

Proper nutrition is nature's protection against skin conditions, premature aging, and serious health conditions.

Consuming Kakadu Plums in either their raw form or as a whole food supplement offers natural support for the immune system, nervous system, and cardiovascular function.

Why Vitamin C needs to come from whole foods

A high vitamin C content in a supplement does not guarantee that your body is able to absorb those vitamins. Vitamin C molecules are volatile in their isolated form when exposed to environmental conditions like air (oxygen), oxidants, and light. Research1 concludes that bioflavonoids (substances found in vascular plants and fruits, like oranges, kiwi, and Kakadu Plums) increase the absorption rate of vitamin C and other nutrients. The bioavailability of natural bioflavonoid-rich whole food vitamin C is much higher than isolated synthetic vitamin C supplements.

In simpler words, whole food vitamins allow your body to access a full range of nutrients for better health and wellbeing.

Fresh fruits growing wild in undisturbed nature

The Kakadu Plum fruits used for the AKP-100 whole food supplement grow wild in the unpolluted and unaltered wilderness of Northern Australia. They grow in harmony with nature on restricted plots of land, where no commercialized farming practices are allowed. Relying exclusively on the soil's natural fertilization, rainfall, and sunshine, the fruits remain on the trees to ripen.

Wild-harvested by indigenous communities

The organic Kakadu Plums are harvested by hand by Australian indigenous Aboriginal people from restricted plots of land. The pickers travel far into the bush to pick the fruit, and the traditional owners of the land authenticate their harvest.

It requires great skill and understanding of the pickers to make sure the fruits are harvested at precisely the moment when their nutritional value is at its highest. Harvesting Kakadu Plums provides a source of income that helps support local indigenous communities in the area.

Once the fruits have been handpicked, the harvest is frozen within 24 hours to maintain its dense nutritional value.

Clean, chemical-free processing

The frozen Kakadu Plums are cleaned, pitted, and pureed before a proprietary drying method is used to preserve the precious nutrients. The vitamins, antioxidants, and phytonutrients of the fruit are all secured in their natural form as the prepared fruits are processed into our AKP-100 powder. It is drained of moisture and cleansed of impurities delivering the highest concentration of pure vitamin C of any natural whole foods supplement on the market.

All-natural flavors

The process of turning Kakadu Plum into our powdered supplement is so gentle that even the natural tastes and aromas of the fruit are preserved. It will add a fully nature-derived flavoring to any dish. Unlike synthetic supplements adding little to no taste, AKP-100 adds the taste of the freshly picked fruits. As a result, you can make beautiful Kakadu Plum flavored smoothies, juices sprinkled over breakfast cereals and porridge, or simply add it to coffee or your favorite beverage.
